Sunrisers Hyderabad battled Kings XI Punjab at the Indian Premier League tournament held on Thursday. Former experienced a major blow when one of its key players Shikhar Dhawan was forced to retire after sustaining an elbow injury while playing his first ball of the innings. Regardless of what took place, Sunrises were able to shutter heavily against KXIP. However, not heavily enough to defeat the team.
After the match, Dhawan posted a video of him on Sunday, wherein he can be seen giving his an update on his injury.
He captioned the picture as,
“Thanks to all my fans and well-wishers for the wonderful messages you have been sending and wishing for my recovery. I’m on my path to recovery and will be back in action soon. Till then enjoy the #IPLT20.”
In the video, he further went on to add,
“It was a big blow, but haven't got a fracture. Hope to see you soon and looking forward to play some good cricket. Injuries are part and parcel of our life and as sportspersons, we take it positively, but I'm grateful that I will be back in action soon. Till then keep enjoying IPL.”
Dhawan — who shifted his base from Mumbai Indians to Sunrisers Hyderabad back in 2013 — has been playing a primary role at pushing the latter towards victory. As can be recalled, his batting combination with David Warner in the opening slot back during IPL, 2016 is the most memorable one yet. In absence of Warner, Dhawan continued to maintain the role of delivering a tough competition against rivals.
