In a major political exclusive, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has been causing a massive storm in Indian national politics, spoke to Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.
The Andhra Pradesh CM said that the TDP pulled out of the NDA government as even after multiple assurances by the Centre, neither did they grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh nor did they implement the Bifurcation Act after the state’s bifurcation.
“I told PM Modi very clearly that there is a sentiment among people and they are affected and angered by the bifurcation. People are thinking that we are also betraying them and hence now is the time to act. PM assured to examine the act, however, after some time we saw the budget, in which there was no mention of Andhra Pradesh,” said Chandrababu Naidu.
In the interview, he also quipped that he is "not a smart politician but a sincere politician."
Naidu slammed the Congress party for betraying and doing injustice to Andhra Pradesh while at the same time criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for being unfair to the state of AP.
“They (Congress) betrayed, they bifurcated without a scientific approach, and the people of Andhra Pradesh punished them and now the BJP is doing the same thing. So, how can we support them?,“ questioned Naidu.
“All parties are doing injustice, all parties are responsible. Congress is saying we will give after polls, I am asking all parties why not give it right away? All national parties should be responsible, you cannot play with the sentiments of the people,” he added.
When asked about the ‘Third Front’ talks, Naidu said,
“Regional leaders are doing extremely well. They are doing better than national leaders. But the BJP government is resorting to mudslinging. Amit Shah and other national leaders are pointing fingers at me. Politics will differ, definitely we will differ. They cannot throw mud at me just because i differ with them.”
When Naidu was asked about his agenda to defeat PM Modi in the 2019 General Assembly Elections, he said, “Taking on someone is not the right way of projecting it. Where they failed, how can we do better, is what will be our focus. I am asking all political parties to support our cause, and that's my mission.”
Chandrababu Naidu has been seen by many as the kingpin of the 2019’s fight against PM Modi as he is reportedly stitching a strong ‘Third Front’ with the help of regional parties to topple the Narendra Modi-led government in the 2019 elections.
