West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has given her first reaction to the Telugu Desam Party exiting the NDA government.

Taking to Twitter, Mamata Banerjee wrote:

"I welcome the TDP's decision to leave the NDA. The current situation warrants such action to save the country from disaster"

Earlier on Friday, the TDP has issued a formal statement announcing its decision to part ways with the NDA, of which is it one of the oldest constituents.

The TDP alleged that the NDA 'did injustice to Andhra Pradesh' and proceeded to move a no-confidence motion against the government, following a similar move by its rival, the YSR Congress.

Since then, the TDP has said that it hopes to pass the motion by Monday. 54 signatures are required for the No-confidence motion to be passed.
