Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has levelled a "Paisa Bolta Hai" charge at Shahid Afridi and asked a very pertinent question regarding the latter's tweet backing terrorism: Would he have done it if Pak players were still in IPL?
"Paisa Bolta Hai". Can't imagine Afridi making these comments if Pakistani players were still playing in the IPL. Rather, what's needed to be condemned foremost is the reason because of which Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the IPL - Infiltration from Pakistani terrorists and Pakistan's support to separatists. We wish peace and love but peace is a two way street.
On Tuesday, Shahid Afridi had issued a tweet insulting India and backing terrorism following Indian security forces' unprecedented crackdown on terror in the Valley which dealt a massive blow to the Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen's activities in the region.
Kaif has joined a growing list of Indian cricketers who have panned Shahid Afridi for his unsolicited, uninformed and factually compromised tweet. Kapil Dev, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina are some of the cricketers who have taken him on.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani Army has thrown its weight behind Shahid Afridi while Farooq Abdullah has backed him.
When Republic TV confronted Afridi about his tweet, his hypocrisy stood exposed as he refused to utter a word about 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.
