BJP President Amit Shah attacked Congress’ divide and rule policy. While speaking to Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Nation Wants To Know, Amit Shah slammed the Congress for dividing Hindus over Lingayat issue.
The BJP President said that Congress is bringing up the Lingayat issue because because they want the elections to be polarised.
"This proposal was presented to the UPA government in 2013 and they rejected it and sent it back. The same Congress party is bringing this proposal back because they are trying to polarise the elections and we do not want the elections to be polarised. So i didn't say that we will clear the stand, but I said whichever side wants a discussion on it, it must be done after elections and we must not get into caste politics before elections," he said.
Amit Shah also questioned Congress' motive of addressing the Lingayat issue now as they were in power in Karnataka for past 4.5 years.
"Congress has been in power there for 4.5 years. I have one question, why are they addressing the Lingayat issue after 4.5 years? That too when the elections are close,"
